With a few million people now owning drones, drone flying is becoming one of the most popular hobbies. And if you are one of the proud drone owners, you may be wondering how you can safely fly your drone without crashing and having to visit a drone repair shop and service center. There are a few things you should absolutely always do when flying your drone to prevent crash landings.

Always keep your drone in sight
This may seem like an obvious tip, but many people make the mistake of using the drone FPV camera to fly their drone. In doing this, they risk missing an obstruction that can lead to a crash landing. So if you are relying solely on the FPV camera, make sure you have someone with you who can maintain visual line of sight of the drone. Not keeping the drone is sight is one of the most common drone mistakes because it's so easy to forget about when you have cameras to help you see.

Always give notice to nearby airports
FAA regulations state that anyone who is flying a drone near an airport must contact both the airport and the control tower prior to flying within five miles of an airport. Fortunately, there have been minimal drone-related plane or helicopter crashes. But if drone users don't follow this rule, they can put people in serious danger. So if you're flying anywhere near an airport, make sure to follow the rules so you can fly your drone as safely as possible.

Always consider the flying conditions
If you're looking to avoid having to visit a drone repair shop and service center, then you better make sure you're flying in safe conditions. This means flying in good weather in an open area during the daytime. Wind, rain, and other weather conditions can not only make it difficult to fly your drone, it can be dangerous too. Additionally, you should never fly in an area that has a lot of obstructions you'll have to navigate around and you should never fly in the dark. In doing this, you'll be able to ensure you'll have a safe, accident-free flight.

If you follow these tips, you'll be able to not only have a good time flying your drone, but you'll be able to avoid crashing, damaging property, or hurting someone around you.
